Build Better Lives, Inspiring stories, 2026
As part of the new Build Better Lives campaign strategy, I integrated action-based storytelling into our communications approach, following training with an external consultant. I am applying the approach by identifying real-world stories that make complex policy issues tangible and compelling for media and wider audiences.
Example: Poblado Dirigido de Orcasitas, Madrid. The first application of this approach focused on a community-led renovation project in Madrid, using residents’ experiences to show the tangible impact of building renovation on affordability and quality of life. I organised and coordinated the first BBL media trip with our Spanish partners, ECODES and Provivienda, bringing journalists and content creators into the neighbourhood to hear directly from residents, including Manuela Navarro, who had campaigned for its renovation.
My role: I developed the storytelling angle, organised and coordinated the media trip and partners, wrote media briefings and media pieces for the parners and worked with content creators on the development of audiovisual and editorial outputs.
Outputs
Influencer collaboration: Developed a short-form video with Spanish climate content creators, contributing to the script and coordinating production on site: Instagram, LinkedIn
Documentary video: Developed the script and interview questions, coordinated with the external production team and managed feedback rounds.
Op-ed: Drafted and pitched and op-ed highlighting how extreme heat is deepening housing inequalities across Europe and making the case for homes to become our first line of defence against rising temperatures. The piece connected the immediate impact of heatwaves with the wider need for ambitious building renovation.
Media briefing: Developed the communications framing and coordinated the briefing around the media trip and the Orcasitas story.
Action based blog: Wrote and developed the story to connect residents’ experience with the wider campaign message on people-centred renovation.
Selected media coverage from the media trip:infoLibre, Cinco Dias, El pais, El salto diario
Digital storytelling: Designed visual assets and adapted the story and messaging for different digital channels and audiences - here sample
Video documentary: Developed the concept and interview questions, and worked with the filmmaker to shape the final format and storytelling for the target audience.
Gas phase out, The Cost of Methane Campaign, 2025
From 2025 - 2026 I led communications across CAN Europe’s gas and methane portfolio, developing strategic communications around fossil gas phase-out, methane regulation and Europe’s continued dependence on fossil gas. This included campaign development, media and editorial work, international coordination and translating complex energy issues into accessible stories and content.
Example: The Cost of Methane campaign brought together European policy communications with stories and voices from communities affected by fossil fuel infrastructure in the U.S., creating a stronger narrative around the wider impacts of EU gas dependence and the need for a fossil gas phase-out.
My role: Initiated and developed the campaign communications strategy, established collaboration with U.S. partners and frontline organisations, and developed the storytelling and media approach. This included editorial content and pitching, as well as coordinating media and digital communications across partners. The approach and partnerships continue to support the campaign as it evolves.
Outputs
Visual storytelling: Developed joint communications featuring voices and testimonies from affected communities in the U.S., adapting the stories for European audiences: Social media and visual samples here and here and here
Οped “EU need to stop importing LNG”: Drafted and pitched the op-ed, developing the editorial angle on Europe’s continued LNG dependence
Oped “From dependence to resilience” here and here: Drafted and pitched the op-ed, connecting Europe’s dependence on Russian and US gas with energy security, economic resilience and the case for a fossil-free energy system.
Campaign result: Part of CAN Europe’s wider gas and methane communications portfolio, generating 25+ media publications across the period and near 200K organic reach.
Creative communications, gas phase out, 2024 - 2025
Led communications around fossil gas phase-out, using creative approaches to translate technical policy developments, data and regulatory debates into accessible advocacy content, editorial stories and timely media opportunities across the CAN Europe network.
Example: The Gas Factsheet was developed to address the need for a clear and accessible communications tool connecting the impacts of fossil gas and methane leakage with wider questions of climate action and energy security. It translated complex technical and policy information into a narrative that could be used consistently by CAN Europe and its members across media, digital communications and policy engagement. The factsheet was featured in ENDS Europe’s Energy Document Watch, distributed to MEPs at the European Parliament and became the basis for a wider digital campaign across our partners and networks.
My role: Concept and communications strategy development, script and content writing, coordination of data inputs, and dissemination strategy across policy, media and digital channels.
Selected Outputs
Gas factsheet document and social media infographics: Developed the concept, script and content of the factsheet as a policy advocacy tool, coordinating data inputs and translating the key positions into digital explainers and visual content for wider audiences.
Op-ed on Lo carbon Hydrogen - Energy Monitor: Drafted and pitched the op-ed, developing the editorial narrative around the risks of blue hydrogen and its implications for EU climate policy.
EU/US trade deal reaction: Coordinated CAN Europe’s organisational media response to the EU–US energy deal, developing key messages and coordinating the reaction across media and communications channels, resulting in coverage in Le Monde, Contexte, Table Media, DW among others.
Media advisory, Final trilogue negotiations on the REPowerEU Regulation: Developed the media advisory and communications framing for the final negotiations on the Russian gas phase-out, translating complex policy positions and key advocacy messages into a clear media hook and briefing for journalists.
Different interviews and quotes on the methane regulation with Desmog, Financial Times:Developed messaging and supported media outreach around the methane regulation, contributing to interviews and expert quotes.
